The job market is bad because people are not breeding or moving to Michigan.

To be honest it is cheaper in Michigan, I was looking to go more north towards Washington, but it can get pretty pricey there, all in all it's too expensive to live period, and if your by yourself it makes 3x harder, it's like you have to have a roommate, or be married.

The shameful thing for average people is the Highest car insurance in the nation. If the Big 3 want Detroit and Mich state citizens to BUY their cars they need to lobby the ridiculous requirements for car Insurance. The 100k min. No other state has that outdated rate i believe. Old 1970s fear instilled by Insurance companies.

I left sh*thole FLA. You get twice as much for your money here. Homes. Jobs. Lifestyle. Lots of people have 2 homes. Cottages. Up north places. Teachers are some of the highest paid in the nation. For years. Mich is getting tons if Fed Grants to rehab small towns. Look at Northville. Berkely. Plymouth. Mich had won awards for best sm town rehabbing of towns.

Republicans trashed the state putting us in debt. Whitmer is running the state in the black. Fixed Flint water( which a Republican broke) and is fixing the roads. Michigan ranks #20 in road quality.

Overall a good video, but I'm not sure why you conflated weather with outdoor activities. People who aren't bothered by winter actually find very enjoyable outdoor activities during that time of year. The other reasons you listed make a lot of sense, but I don't think it's true that many people are leaving Michigan due to a lack of outdoor activity options; that's just not a true statement.

I love this video . Born and raised outside Flint , moved to Ohio , ( not a Buckeye ,!) however it's ironic that I ran across this video because today on this very day I applied for a position in Detroit.. my dad still lives in the Flint area and he is elderly yet I like to be closer to him for that reason

What I noticed is people that grew up outside of Detroit "suburbs" just view Detroit in a entirely different lense.

Enjoyed your very professional video I came across quite frankly by accident (You Tbe algorithms) . I was born an raised in Detroit and moved away after college some 53 years ago. I have lived in California and Seattle since and would not personally consider moving back for either family (they disowned me years ago LOL) or a job as I have my own business in Seattle. It might be beneficial especially for those who do not have a history there to touch upon some of the social and political aspects of these various geographic areas.

I’ve always lived in Michigan and for the first time leaving I went to Florida for a week..I always thought I’d love the weather but being there made me realize I wouldn’t want to deal with the heat all year round. I like our winters. It’s a change of atmosphere.

If you exclude major pockets of metro Detroit, Michigan is gaining lots of people - so this is a little deceiving.

Winters are mild anymore, roads are in great shape now, and we have very little bugs compared to other states (and none that are poisonous). It's hard to beat Michigan living, especially since it's so affordable.

It's Birmingham, not Burmingham. Trust me, the folks there would be miffed at the misspelling.

We do not have harsh winters anymore. They're just an extended late autumn with snows that fall and melt with cloud cover five days per week. It's gloomy and chilly, but certainly not harsh. Maybe it's different on the Keweenaw Peninsula and a few other areas in the U.P. and northern L.P., but for the most part our winters are not brutal.

I left Michigan, and I'm now living in Ecuador. 😊 I love perfect weather. I'm currently renting a 3 bedroom, two bathroom apartment for $350 a month. Beat that in cold ass Michigan.

My wife and I are moving to Michigan next year. I grew up - and still live - in the Chicago metropolitan area (northwest Indiana), every negative you listed exists in my area, except the insurance. But, Michigan is a lot prettier than "da region", so it will be a win.

Love living in Michigan, especially up north on a lake. But this state is so poorly run. Our governor, the entire state government all suck

I heard the more fish flies the healthier the lakes. Fish love chowing down on the larvae and the eggs. At least we're not afflicted much by cicadas.

Who moves to michigan willingly?

I went to my favorite cannabis shop and saw the entire front of their building covered in mayflies. I said I clean up for $100. They were so grossed out and didn't know what to do, they were very thankful. I collected 32 gallons of mayflies. I fed them to my chickens. It looks biblical when they all stick themselves to the side of some random building.
